KazMunayGas has received an ESG rating in the field of sustainable development

In 2020, the activities of JSC NC KazMunayGas (hereinafter - KMG) in the field of sustainable development were for the first time evaluated at the international level by the Sustainalytics rating agency[1] at the level of 69 points, which reflects the company's fairly high indicators in the field of sustainable development (33rd out of 119 companies in the industry in the world). At the same time, the ESG risk rating was 34.5 points. In terms of the components of the ESG rating, KMG received the following ratings: environmental component at 69, social - 70, corporate governance – 67. Compliance with the ESG principles implies the introduction of best practices in the fields of ecology (Environmental), social policy (Social) and corporate Governance (Governance). The ideological basis was formulated about 15 years ago by the UN in the form of principles of responsible investment. The high rating of the international rating agency Sustainalytics confirms KMG's strategic commitment and responsibility to current and future generations on environmental issues and social stability, along with a continuous process of improving corporate governance. As a national operator representing the interests of the state in the oil and gas industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KMG will continue to improve its activities to meet the highest standards in the field of sustainable development. In order to increase the transparency of information disclosure on ESG, since 2012, KMG has been publishing annual reports in accordance with GRI Standards.
